At some point we all have to stop perpetuating this dribble.

That said, couldn't agree more - a promotional video done well can have a huge impact on a business.

Re: 800K Deal in 7 Days : A Switch Video Success Story

Great work guys.

Re: Neurochemistry, Empathy, & the Power of Story

You highlight a very important point, Jason. Connecting with the viewer by eliciting empathy is key to driving your audience toward your desired call to action. It's something we do in our videos by exploring the pain points of the character and how our clients product or service addresses them. Thanks for calling us on our game!

Re: Neurochemistry, Empathy, & the Power of Story

Interesting research and commentary....and thanks for your insight as well..."the package is the story". Anecdotally, I have found that to be very true as I educate people on selling products...people do care about product information, but that only goes so far. Potential customers really connect with stories and testimonials...if it is real and authentic!

Re: Neurochemistry, Empathy, & the Power of Story

Not sure you completely got what Paul Zak was explaining in his video. Cortisol is the neurotransmitter associated with distress. Oxytocin with empathy. Both are linked to dopamine (which is what gets trigger when we do something in response to the distress exhibited by others). But this really only happens in the context of a story (you should real or reference Susan Cain's Wired for Story). It's not about the"information in the videos" as you say. It's about how the information is presented: in a story. From a storytelling perspective, your "explainer" video needs to create some sort of distress (that has to do with the character, btw). What do they have to lose or gain? Why should I care? When I experience their distress (through the narrative and climax), my empathy is triggered (so I have lots of neurotransmitters flowing through my brain). And when my empathy is triggered, I'm more apt to take some sort of action. In this case, it could be buying the product (maybe it will help me, maybe I can use it to help someone else). What you missed was that the over-riding "packaging" of Zak's research is a story, not just information. Who the hell cares about information? You don't "connect with subject matter". You connect with characters and a narrative arc.

Re: An Interview with our Newest Advisory Board Member

Rafael is surely a great addition to the team. But not just any
explainer video. Nowadays, the market is full of cheap studios that charge you
peanuts and deliver a monkey. If that's the case, I strongly recommend not using
an explainer video. It will ruin your brand image and make you look way smaller
than you are.

Re: 800K Deal in 7 Days : A Switch Video Success Story

Congratulations, Andrew and team. We don't say, take scripts that are prewritten at our company, nor will we do character art or clones of existing videos. The products and services offered by the website can be displayed on the landing pages and from there onwards the customers can purchase or request quote or order. A landing page’s role is very important rather than what it looks like as.Thanks for great help.

Re: Explainer Video Review: Invest Ottawa’s Explainer Video

I love Simon Sinek's thoughts on WHY.
